overview
We are an invite-only GPSL set in a fictional town in France named
Veisse that is hidden away in the city of Colmar in Northeastern France. This is a modern day GPSL for characters that are a part of storybooks, fairytales and fables. Whether they are based off of the original story version or a movie/show version.
The rules are simple: be respectful, be thoughtful, be dramatic ic but never ooc, and don't be blurry. Any disruptive or offensive ooc behavior is grounds for removal. If you have an issue or concern about another player or plot, please
bring it to our attention so we can address it.
premise
The town is hidden away in a section of Colmar, France and is accessible only by a singular entrance that allows in only characters from stories, fables and fairytales. These characters can be from all walks of life and experience different parts of their story. From wanting to escape and live a quiet life instead of being forced to live out their story, maybe Maleficent doesn't want to be seen as the villain putting the sleeping curse on Sleeping Beauty. Or maybe they lost all their story's memories and someone brought them to Veisse to live "Once Upon a Time Storybrooke" style. It doesn't matter how they got to Veisse or whether they are a villain, hero or side character. All are welcome to live in peace with their own kind.
We are open to characters being human or supernatural, whatever the writer chooses and as long as it makes sense. However, if a character has abilities in their original story, be true to those abilities. Don't give Elsa fire powers, Tinkerbell isn't a witch, etc. If they were originally human and you want to give them something supernatural, make sure it weaves well into the original story and doesn't contradict the canon events.
You are welcome to do an inspired by character or the character exactly, just ensure that the major details of that story are present in your character's own life. For example, Ariel gives up her voice to go to the surface, the sea witch that tricked her almost succeeds in keeping her as a minion, Ariel is saved by Prince Eric, etc. Everything in between can be rewritten should the writer choose. If it will impact others, make sure to have those details written down for anyone who might join as another character in that story.
Speaking of changes, we understand that not everyone wants to write heterosexual love stories or have every character be white. You are more than welcome to change details to fit what you're looking for or even change the gender of your character. Do you want Belle to be male? Go for it! But please keep in mind that you need to make sure whoever brings in Gaston or the Beast knows and is okay with those changes. If they want to bring in the Beast but don't want something queer, maybe their story was a platonic friendship or unrequited instead. The same goes for wanting to write an existing character as queer when they weren't originally, if someone brings in another character and the story was part love story, make sure the new details make sense, ie: platonic or unrequited. Not every fairytale has to be a love story but it does need to work with the original in the end. We don't judge what people want to write as long as communication is had.
All characters are welcome, but we are focused on ones that are from existing stories or fairytales. Modern day books are welcome, but keep in mind that they might need to be adjusted to fit into the environment. Gods are not permitted unless there is something firm to base them off of. For example, Zeus would be the Zeus from the movie Hercules and not the all-powerful king of the Gods that he is in mythology. We want stories not myths. They will also not be all-powerful (whether it be powers muted or more weaknesses than strengths). Please indicate the stories or media you are pulling from to ensure others that want to bring in a related character can pull from thoes same sources.
When it comes down to it, make it make sense.
applying
Once you've finished reading everything, comment our
application post with backdated contact posts (both ooc, with screened comments, and ic). Then link us to your
info, which should include:
NAME, AGE, OCCUPATION, STORYBOOK CHARACTER and a brief BIO (bullet points or short paragraphs will suffice).
Once your membership has been approved, you have
3 days to post some form of activity — social media post, narrative, new scene, post in the
storyline community, etc. We do not require traditional ic intro posts — feel free to hop right into interaction on the fp if you see fit!
activity
As a GPSL, we only work if everyone is an active participant. However, our requirements are simple:
one update per month. This can be a narrative, a scene with 5+ tags per player, a public event post, an interactive post to your own journal, or a comments-disabled post combined with consistent participation on the fp or in the storyline community. We strongly encourage posting scenes to
LITERATURES, our main community for threads and events. Please comment a link with your monthly activity to the
activity tracker. You can check your status on the
taken list.
You can request a hiatus or extension in our
members dropbox.
Hiatuses last for two weeks from the time of request.
Extensions on updates last until the following mid-month check-in, posted around the 15th.
Removals will be performed twice a month, after the mid-month check and end of the month.
etc.
We think everyone should be treated fairly and heard. However, if a current member of the GPSL raises concerns to us about a potential applicant or another member, we will first try to address and investigate the issue, but can and will remove the offending member from the GPSL if necessary. We're here to have fun, and if you're causing problems, that's not fun.
